Welcome to the Brigg Fiddle Festival!
|
The 2011 Brigg Fiddle Festival is
cancelled.
Please come back in early 2012
We had a great time at the Fiddle Fest in 2009,
but unfortunately, in 2010 and 2011, the organisers have too many other
commitments to take on the Big Job of running the festival. Please come
back to this website in late 2011 and early 2012 when information about
the 2012 Brigg Fiddle Festival will be available.
The 'Fiddle Fest' started as part of the Brigg
Live Arts programme and was originally called 'The Fiddle Workout'. The
committee of Brigg Live Arts asked Carol Dawson, the organiser of
Wootton fiddle club, if she would be interested in putting on some sort
of fiddle event during the Arts week. Delighted by this opportunity and
inspired by the Fulbeck Fiddle festival, she and her trusty team (Russ,
Lynn and Sue,) called on artists such as Loyko, Gina Le Faux, Robin
Garside, and the Old Rope String Band. They put together two fantastic
concerts, workshops and street entertainment. The Fiddle Workout was
such a success that the following year they decided to create the Brigg
Fiddle Festival and the rest is history. The Festival now boasts a
busking competition, music sessions, an education programme and five
concerts.
